Manual reset in a hazard zone – and unnecessary downtime

Dillinger, one of Europe’s leading steel plate manufacturers, produces high-strength plates for offshore and industrial use. In their slitting shear line, the torque limiter required manual reset inside a hazardous area after disengagement – creating safety risks and extended downtime.

A patented torque limiter with automatic self-reset

MALMEDIE® developed and supplied a self-resetting torque limiter – protected under Patent DE10 2019 110 297.
After overload disengagement, the coupling automatically resets by reversing the motor for a few seconds. The reset levers re-engage the safety pins without manual intervention.

This technology eliminates the need for human access to the danger zone – and makes full operation possible again in less than a minute.

The results speak for themselves:
