The compact tool was specially developed for Malmedie drum couplings and makes the alignment of rope drum joint connections significantly easier — ensuring safe installation processes, reduced sources of error and high system availability.
Especially during the installation and commissioning of crane and drive systems, exact coupling alignment is essential. The MALMEDIE MIC-Tool helps users determine the correct position quickly — without complex fixtures and without extensive training. Thanks to its compact design, low weight and easy handling, the tool is ideal for service, installation and maintenance work.
The use of the MIC-Tool is clearly structured: First, the magnetic base is positioned on the front side of the coupling hub. Measurements are then taken at four defined points in the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions. Afterwards, the measured distances between the outer housing cover and the coupling hub are recorded with a caliper and entered into the provided software. In effect the MIC software then calculates the angular position, axial position and correction values for the fixed bearing position for optimum alignment.

The result is a significantly more efficient alignment process for drum couplings: less room for interpretation, greater precision on the smallest scale and reliable installation. This way companies benefit from shorter installation times, higher process reliability and improved system availability.
With the MIC-Tool, MALMEDIE expands its portfolio with an intelligent aid for the alignment of couplings in crane systems and industrial drive systems. Anyone who relies on accuracy, ease of use and reproducible results when installing Malmedie drum couplings will find the MIC-Tool to be a modern solution for everyday practical use.
