In April, M.A.T. MALMEDIE Antriebstechnik GmbH had the opportunity to take part in a special meeting of the port industry: not only did the PEMA Annual General Meeting take place in Killarney, Ireland, but the year 2024 also marks the 20th anniversary of PEMA.
Founded in 2004, PEMA (“Port Equipment Manufacturers Association”) provides a forum and public voice for the global port equipment and technology sector. Member companies represent all facets of the industry, including crane, equipment and component manufacturers, automation, software and technology providers, consultants, and other experts. As a member of PEMA, MALMEDIE® contributes to the advancement of harbour technology through technical committees.
On the 10th and 11th of April 2024, members and invited guests had the opportunity to make new contacts, exchange ideas and participate in panel discussions and expert committee meetings in the west of Ireland. MALMEDIE® Managing Director Thomas Netz and Sebastian Leite, Area Sales Manager Europe, are looking back on two exciting days of networking and discussions at PEMA’s largest international member event to date.
The focus in Killarney was on automation and control technologies and the guest speakers, who spoke about standardization and development and the prospects for the port industry, were memorable as well.
In addition to PEMA’s celebrations, the Liebherr Group also celebrated its 75th anniversary. Thomas Netz and Sebastian Leite took the opportunity to visit the crane manufacturer Liebherr Container Cranes in person. They were happy to take part in a factory and production tour and thus gain their own impression of the company.
