MALMEDIE® at TOC Americas – three successful days in Panama

In mid-October, the time had finally come for TOC Americas, the largest trade fair for port, ship and terminal technology for North and South America, to take place. Of course, M.A.T. MALMEDIE® Antriebstechnik GmbH could not miss it!

The TOC Americas (Terminal Operations Conference) changes its location every year and is held various cities across the American continent. From 17 to 19 October, representatives from the shipping, port, terminal and container industries met in Panama and presented a wide range of the most up-to-date developments and solutions. The latest challenges and current industry trends in the American market were discussed at two associated international conferences. Port equipment manufacturers, port authorities, terminal operators, logistics providers, software suppliers and financial and legal service providers showcased innovative products, ideas, services and technologies.

The Managing Director of M.A.T. MALMEDIE® Antriebstechnik GmbH, Thomas Netz, and his colleague responsible for the Latin American market, Felipe Ruiz, also responded to the invitation to the Panama Convention Centre. The company exhibited the prototype of the new Evolution Torque Safety Coupling at a joint stand with its sales partner Key Port.

“EvoTorque” impresses in America

Malmedie’s new Evolution Torque Safety Coupling for the Snag Overload System helps operators to reduce energy consumption and save costs compared to previous designs, the company was able to reduce inertia of this technology by more than 45% and mass by about 20%.

Reducing inertia of the coupling means that all components in the powertrain will see smaller mechanical loads. Reducing the “mechanical footprint” of the coupling will therefore help to choose other smaller components, saving initial investment cost and resulting in additional inertia-related energy savings. Additional features realized in the Evolution Torque Safety Coupling include easy maintenance access and a reduced number of components and costs.

TOC Americas is part of a series of trade fairs that are held at various locations around the world and contribute to the global networking and further development of the industries. The main topics of the trade fair are business intelligence, sustainability and digitalization.

“For us, it has been a very successful three days,” says Managing Director Thomas Netz, summarizing the event. “Our new ‘Evotorque’ Safety Coupling attracted a lot of interest, we had many conversations and are pleased to report on the initiation of new projects.”
