M.A.T. MALMEDIE Antriebstechnik GmbH has dedicated a very special celebration to the entire workforce, their families and former employees – the 150th anniversary.
MALMEDIE® is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of mechanical couplings for industrial applications within the harbour, steel, mining and heavy machinery segment. “Meeting the expectations of our customers in terms of quality, delivery reliability and innovative strength is what drives us daily”, says Thomas Netz, Managing Director of MALMEDIE®. “However, none of this would be possible without our valuable employees, who work closely with each other every day to ensure customer satisfaction. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to the MALMEDIE® team for their unwavering dedication.”
How it all began
The success story of MALMEDIE® began on 15 September 1873 when Johann Josef Malmedie and Karl August Schmitz founded what was then “Malmedie & Cie Maschinenfabrik”. The two started their production of cold moulding presses and wire drawing machines with 25 employees in Düsseldorf-Oberbilk.
Exactly on this day, 150 years later, Managing Director Lars Hampel opened the party along with Solingen’s Lord Mayor Tim Kurzbach to celebrate all the milestones of the past years. Frank Balkenhol from the Solingen Economic Development Agency and shareholder Rahim Groß and his family were also in attendance. In addition to a tour of the company and the display of exhibits, there was the MALMEDIE® Olympics, where both younger guests and grown-ups had lots of fun and were able to get to know each other better.
From Solingen to Asia and the USA
Things will remain exciting at MALMEDIE® in the future: In order to ensure active further development, another forward-looking conversation has just taken place in Asia, where Managing Director Thomas Netz and Key Account Manager Paul Düsberg see great potential for the company.
Sebastian Leite, Area Sales Manager Europe, is achieving further growth in Europe thanks to the use of MALMEDIE® products. And that’s not all: Megan Preston-Watson and Felipe Ruiz Martin are currently expanding the presence and awareness of MALMEDIE® in the USA and South America.
And in Solingen? Here, MALMEDIE® is ensuring that technically highly sophisticated coupling solutions will continue to enable prospective growth. That being said, the next 150 years will be quite active too!
